BBQ Competition Event – CBJ Attendee / Event Organizer Agreement
This CBJ Attendee / Event Organizer Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between the individual attending the Event (“Guest”) and the Stellas House, LLC. (“Organizer”) for admission to the CBJ Class (“Event”) scheduled to take place on September 25th, 2026 at Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA.
1. Registration Purchase and Admission
The registration fee is $150 per attendee.
There are NO refunds for registration under any circumstance.
In the event of a cancellation, the pre-registration will be redeemable for the rescheduled date of the Event.
Participation in the Event requires a KCBS membership, purchased separate from the Organizer.
The Guest is responsible for ensuring a good-standing membership with KCBS.
2. Guest Conduct
Guests agree to follow all instructions and directions provided by the Organizer, event staff, and security personnel.
The Organizer reserves the right to remove any Guest from the Event premises, or designate them as trespassing, if they engage in unruly, disruptive, or unlawful behavior toward other guests, participating teams, sponsors, or staff.
Such removal will not entitle the Guest to any refund or compensation.
3. Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver
Guests acknowledge that attendance at the Event is voluntary and may involve certain risks, including but not limited to exposure to food allergens, physical activity, and large crowds.
By attending the Event, the Guest voluntarily assumes all risks associated with attendance and agrees to release and hold harmless the Organizer, its affiliates, sponsors, vendors, and staff from any liability for injury, loss, or damage.
4. Miscellaneous
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved in the courts located in King County, Washington.
The Organizer reserves the right to modify Event details, including programming and schedule, without notice.
By attending the Event, the Guest acknowledges and agrees to the terms outlined in this Agreement.
CBJ Class - Friday, September 25th, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Step behind the judging table and into the world of championship barbecue. Smoke on the Sound and the Kansas City Barbeque Society are teaming up to host an immersive Certified Barbecue Judge (CBJ) class that turns BBQ lovers into trained, sanctioned competition judges.
You’ll learn the official KCBS judging process, taste real turn‑ins, and practice scoring like a pro. Your palate training includes sampling competition‑level barbecue from multi‑time Grand Champion Small Axe BBQ, giving you a true taste of what top teams bring to the table.
After class wraps on Friday, September 25th, keep the fun rolling at The Big Meat Up at Flatstick Pub — a lively gathering of judges, teams, KCBS members, and BBQ fans.
Then, just two days later, you’ll have the opportunity to judge your first KCBS‑sanctioned competition at Smoke on the Sound.
Class Fee: $150
Additional Requirement: KCBS membership (purchased separately)
